Everyday Stuff
Mom left on Tuesday to go to upstate NY - her sister lives, like, 2 hours from their father's house, but my mom's been flying up there and done the majority of the work, from what I understand. Anyway, that leaves me alone 'cept for the cats. I've cunningly used the time to very effectively ignore almost every single item on my mom's to-do list. The rain has excepted me from watering the flowers, which I wouldn't mind doing, I think, but whatever. I've gone to water the flowers in front of her office, dumped-and-refilled the cat's food every morning, and fed them treats, and I've actually been good about cleaning out their litter boxes. Which reminds me - after I do this, I'll do that.
Apart from that, though... the biggest obstacle is the dishes. They've engulfed the double sink and are sneakily engulfing the counter... I'm sure they don't smell too nice either, but I'm not very smell sensitive. It'll probably be fairly horrified when I do get to them, and probably have to set a towel on the counter for the ones that absolutely can't be stacked in the drier thing. Drainer? Mom would probably say the floors and the bathroom need to be done too, which I'm pretty sure takes less time than one might expect. I've been telling myself I'd do them all week - told myself I'd do 'em today, in fact. My excuse is that I might need something to do tomorrow, which I suppose is a possibility between the endless living in the internet that I usually prefer.
(Which is possibly why I needed glasses. But, oh well. They're nice glasses. Purple frames. I like them, even though they're Mary Kate & Ashely, and say so on the side. It's small enough to not be noticable.)
Um, what else? Oh, got my first ticket sometime this week. The days - it's like, school time and getting home from it are two different days. I get confused. Anyway, it turns out that police can tell how fast you're going when you're both traveling opposite sides of the road. Crap. He said he made it lower than it was, so it was only $81. Unlike the last time I got pulled over (when I just got a warning - my first ticket ever, by the way...), this dude noticed my distinct lack of a drivers side mirror. I should have said it had been gone for less time, but when he said, "One month? Two?" I jumped on the lesser option. He just gave me a warning for that, though, thank God. I've yet to contact the guy I bought it from about getting a new one. The woman at the small bank I go to was very nice, and I got a money order. I am SO GLAD you can mail the money vs. going to court. In time honored fashion, I am avoiding telling my mom. The insurance might not do anything, right?
... right.
I've been looking through archives, finding a pleasing amount of stories I like. Shannon hasn't been online as much as I'd like, especially seeing as she's my only real human contact - okay, dramatization. But I only see the co-op people for not-quite 2 hours a week, and Byron came over and talked at me a bit as he got the butter I'd picked up for him there. But all others are just acquaintances (granted, many I'm friendly with), which doesn't count, much. I don't mind much at the moment (not to say I don't miss you, Shannon!), I just feel very little self pity about it. Which is good. Self pity is bad.
What else, what else? Oh, yeah! The comic, Everyone Loves Rodney has reached it's (for now, hopefully) final comic, so I went through some of them and laughed a lot. The Last Man one had more detail on the clothes than any of the others I'd noticed. Also, also...
SEASON FIVE TODAY! Less than half an hour. Gad. I've been saving myself for it - I hope all the people who've been watching the leaked version watch it, too. I've always been extremely unclear how networks know ratings (I have a small number of mildly amusing theories, however), but they do know somehow. I hope they're smart enough to see how season four has been, as I've seen it put, "flying off the shelves!" and keep up a good thing. I also hope they listen to the fans and don't try to make the show some fake, too-cool-for-school crap, instead of the fabulously realistic characters that the fans know and love. I read a conversation on LJ about how SG-1 and SGA were different, and it was said that SG-1 seem like mythical heroes (Paraphrasing, possibly I interpreted it incorrectly), and SGA is more like, "Hey! I know that guy!"
Shannon's addicted to SGA. She called herself a Sci-Fi nerd... *glee* Anyway, I hope she watches it. She said she was excited, I hope she's able to. Also, my mom just replied to a forward I sent her. Hmm.
Apparently, it's not as much work as she thought, friends came over and helped, and she figured out how to set up her laptop! Awesome.
(When Byron came in to get the butter I waved to the counter (slowly being taken over by used dishes, remember), and told him he didn't see any of that. Mom says he told her the house was clean.
