Climbing back into the car, the team all focused their attention on Gene. Sam pre-empted the Guv as he opened his mouth.
"Pub."
"Oh, you’re in charge now, are you, Gladys?"
"Fine, Guv. Let’s go where you want to go instead."
A pause. "Nobody loves a smartarse," Gene grumbled, turning the Cortina pubwards.

I keep reading these stories that I want to quote something from, so ... *shrugs*
“You two are a pretty odd couple to be partners,” the woman said, bringing her hand up to her face to sweep the blonde fringe off her forehead. “Like chocolate and cheese.”
Gene nodded his head. “You’re telling me, love.”
“Apparently, we complement each other,” Sam said with a small quirk of his eyebrow, though he thought it interesting Gene didn’t correct her perception of their collegial relationship.
“You do?”
“Yeah.” Gene turned to Sam, gesturing with both hands. “I like your jacket, Sam, it makes you look very distinguished.”
Sam kept his face straight as he replied. “Thanks Gene, and if I may say so, your eyes are really blue.”

Clay, by Emptyfox, found at squidge.org/garakbashir/round5/clay.txt . Excellent. The style really sets such an interesting mood, sort of bare maybe...

It's Friday, I just finished a slice of carrot cake with cream cheese-ish icing and milk, and added a long, wonderful Scrubs fic to my memories. (Survivor, it's brilliant.) The Harry, Bob, and Malcom sims are so far getting along very well - someone stole one of their gnomes, and Malcom stole it back. Also, I've been talking a bit with one or two people.
Happy things. :)
Oh yeah, a link to the Scrubs story.

Since ff.net tells me I can't review twice (but I want to say something different! I noticed things!), I figured I'd post it here.
The story Benediction, by pansnymph. Short and lovely.
( this is the review I wanted to leave, and it contains spoilers for the story. If you want to read what I've put about it, go ahead and read the story and then come back. Yay for overly long fake cuts. )In short... I highly recommend this story, though I'm hardly a critic. Love, love, love.

I've just re-read The Bang and the Clatter, by trinityofone -
A magnificent SGA/Good Omens crossover of something over 2000 words. It sort of puts John and Rodney in the places of Aziraphale and Crowley, staying true to their characters yet making allowances for their natures, and the writing style sort of feels like Good Omens to me. Even if you're not familiar with the book Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, you can enjoy this. :)

Disambiguation, by
yin_again . (I'm going through the Atlantis section of the site)
I love the way John
cherishes Rodney in this. It's exactly the way I've always wanted to read, but never quite found.
Mmmmmmmm.

Seriously. It's poetic and beautiful and lovely (and long!) and, as a bonus, she (?) really knows what she's talking about, and the story's just so... fucking... fabulous.
Go read it. Seriously. Go read it now. *pokes*

I have 1,222 entries in my Memories. O.O
Also, I just added a new one - the 444th Stargate: Atlantis entry, Dæmonology, by
trinityofone . Ohmigod, it's
fantabulous. The last line nearly made me cry for whatever odd reason, but it was because I was touched by it (not depressed).
Um, yeah. Readreadread if you haven't. You know you want to. *cheery grin*

1.) Own (or rent) a large, flying castle.
a.) Figure out that bigger on the inside stuff. For the harem, you understand.
2.) Hear someone sing to me in German. Or hear someone sing in German in my general direction. Or in the same room.
3.) Read as much fan fiction as possible.
4.) Figure out what my other goals are. I know they're lurking in my brain somewhere.
4a.) Find out how to avoid being an airhead.
4b.) be more productive. (can also be phrased as, "stop being such a lazy bum")
5.) Read Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series, re-read that one book in the series too because it was fantastic. Look into Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale and Stacey Richter's Twin Study.
6.) See the following in stories:
- Rodney/Vala friendship
7.) [rather important] Be a cause of Shannon loving SGA. Then she can read 'Infinity' by Wintertime on Wraithbait. Which I so totally rec, by the way. Blew my mind upside-down and sideways.
And she can watch it... and she can be addicted... share my addiction! MUA-HA HA!
*clears throat*
Yes. Well. Moving on.
- - (She does! *does a dance* I should so totally have a party for that. This is an occasion so exciting that it merits the use of the phrase, so totally. She hasn't read the story yet, but I think it's too early yet for that. She doesn't even have to. The fact that she's getting to like it ... thrills me.)
8.) Find more of that weirdly rare, thick crusted brand of pop tarts that apparently can only be found once, brown sugar flavored, the supply of which can be controlled with my mind.
9.) Thicker hair. At least 2/3rds as thick as I remember it being. That would be nice.
10.) Machine. Dishwasher.
- - Got one, but it has to be hooked up to the sink which is very nearly impossible. It's become mom's job, as she can actually get it to work.
11.) A computer of some kind which is completely devoted to Sims.
-- Well, I've got Sims, now I have to make my computer's memory bigger or something and/or get everything else off it.
12.) A robot which does all my work for me.
-- That would be unfair to the robot, wouldn't it? Think I'd rather just get rich and pay someone.
13.) Get a Good Omens movie made. Somehow. There's one that is permanently stuck in production because of costs, but that's probably just as well since I think they're the people who told the authors that the screenplay was too much like the book. People are morons.
14.) Get the amount of income that allows me to have a chauffeur. I don't even want to be in the same car with me when I drive, sometimes. Also, people are morons (as stated above). It's possible for people to be even bigger morons than me when it comes to driving (I discovered today, Tuesday the 22nd of April '08), which is... wow, impressive.
14a) PAY ATTENTION to the cars around mine, for God's sake.
15.) Be able to play Sims with Shannon - you know, me having sims, her having some, and playing in different places but our characters interacting, with a side screen. Holy crap, that'd be so cool.
16.) Human. Hamster. Ball.

Ohmigod ohmigod ohmygod! Black Cat! Part Two! OHMIGOD.
(it's only one chapter, but) wheee...
(um, by Wicked Jade... I googled ' "Black Cat" Norrington' and it was on the site in the first entry, not too far down. I don't want to link, again. )
Damn. It's a part I've already read. (It'll never be finished... *wails*)
Well, the rec stands, if you don't mind a work-in-progress whose status won't change for years, if ever. It really is a fantastic story, and what's done can pretty much stand on it's own despite the oodles of unfinished potential. Focuses around Norrington and Sparrow, the early years, what could have been, etc. It was the first story I looked for when I wanted to go back into reading some POTC just now.

Another rec, 'cause apparently I don't mind making them after all.
The Dark Side, by astolat. It's done for the Darkside challenge on flashfic, and it's so, so in character... Sheppard and McKay, in one of the most unlikely of universes. It feels very fulfilling to me, and it's so much fun to read. So, whoever reads this, I advise you to go. Go, read.

Up reading fanfic.
Times like this I wish I had a laptop, so I could just keep on going, in my room so mom wouldn't know. The later I go to sleep, the later I'll have to do school work. Not to mention that these stories are damn awesome. Actually, that second reason is most of it.
Read a story by an author who goes by the name of Sholio. Found the site, going through the stories. Commented on it at ff dot net. I don't remember the name of the story. I didn't think to tell the author my reaction exactly to the story, so I wanted to write it somewhere.
I calmly hid my face in my arm. After a few seconds I started to laugh into the crook of my elbow, shaking and very vaguely hoping my mom wouldn't wake. When I was ... mostly... done, I noticed that my face was a bit wet, especially around the eyes.
Jeez. I can't - I don't think I've ever really laughed like that. Maybe come close a couple'a times, but I can't remember. Oh, wow. Utterly fantastic.
You know how, on Psych, they have little episode things at the ends? If the Sci-Fi channel did that with these (which they won't, but it is incredible to picture), the universe would just about be complete.
'M paranoid about my mom waking up and getting mad. Okay, not paranoid. A little worried. The story I want to read is about 17,000 words, so I'll save it for when I'm done with school work. Ooh, please let that motivate me! I've let these two assignments go until the very last day. Because I'm me. It was fun. I like being me. At the moment. And I'm going to go put the milk carton back in the fridge (there were no water bottles left, okay? I didn't want to make the noise of pouring anything), turn the lights off, go into my room and imagine things instead of sleep for as long as I feel comfortable doing so. And hopefully a little longer. But I'll be able to read as soon as I finish it! That's it, motivation! Motivation! *pumps fist in air*
Okay, maybe it is time for me to go to sleep bed now. Which I will.
